Welcome to the Flute Portal Forum! This is a community forum that is used by people of all different ages, races, religious/spiritual beliefs and backgrounds. As such, the most important (and most strictly enforced) rule on this forum is courtesy.
No matter what the topic being discussed, and no matter how strongly you feel about another members statements or beliefs, you are expected to be polite and respectful. Even if you are engaged in a debate-oriented discussion, you must still treat other members with respect.
This means:
-No bad language (We have language filters installed, but it is better not to need them) -No inflammatory rhetoric of any kind (religious, political, racial or otherwise--this includes quotations from scripture and quotations from any type of political or racial manifesto) -No derogatory statements or observations regarding another member
If someone annoys you so much that you feel the need to tell them that they are stupid and wrong, then you need to withdraw from the discussion. The moderators will deal with anyone who is making a nuisance of themselves. If you choose to tell another member what you think of them in negative terms, you will be banned from the forum. This is our no-nonsense policy. If you are in the "gray area" between good behavior and banned behavior, you will be given a single warning from the moderator. After that you are out. If you want to have a more pointed conversation with another member, confine it to the personal messaging system and keep it there. The PM system is for members to make contact and to discuss things that are not necessarily topical to the forum itself.
-No selling of anything. - No "ads". This includes photos of anything that you are selling, accompanied by any sort of "sales pitch" or "come on" (or anything that can be construed as such) to potential customers, and no links to commercially oriented websites or stores off-site. If you have flutes or accessories that you want to sell, use the Flute Portals free classified ads (click on the link to the Flute Portal at the top of the page). This applies to CDs, workshops/classes, and music downloads as well (with or without photos).
All posted topics outside of the Flute Portal Cafe must be in some way related to flutes (within the Cafe we try to keep it topical as well, but not as strictly). Any topic that is totally unrelated in any way, or topics that violate fundamental courtesy rules will be deleted.
Thanks for taking the time to read and understand these rules.
