So, it would seem that there is a limit to the total file size of all photos uploaded? Correct?
Does this mean that for me to upload more photos, I would need to delete earlier uploads?
If I delete earlier uploads, does this mean they disappear from the posts they were originally uploaded with?
If all of the above is true, then is there a way to get around this limitation? I'd hate to have to delete earlier uploads just to be able to make current uploads.
Thanx!

freckledsophie,
I've been dialing in the various settings to accomdate different media, but here is how it stands so far (I just reset this, so up until now it was on a default setting): You can upload as much as 4 megabytes of media per post, with a maximum of 5 different images per post. It had been accidentally set at 400 kilobytes, which is not much, particularly if you want to upload an MP3!
So, you shouldn't have to delete any previous pictures--the limitiations are on a "per post" basis. Obviously we want our members to be moderate in order to conserve bandwidth. Someone who wants to upload 50 Mb of data each day is really going a bit far. Most folks will be reasonable so we won't worry about it unless it becomes a problem.

Geoffrey,
I still seem to have a problem with photo posting. I've deleted my cookies and have gone away from and back to the portal site and this is still what I have in the managing attachments section:
Attachment space used 965.9K of 1000K Max. single upload size: 34.1K
I'll try closing Internet Explorer completely and reloading it, but for whatever reason, the portal thinks I'm at my limit for posting photos and it's based on old photos I've posted weeks ago.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Geoffrey

freckledsophie,
Sorry about that...yet another default setting that I had to dig for. I've kicked it up to 50 Mb instead of 1 Mb. Let me know if you have any further trouble.

I have the same problem...I can only upload 2 pics, then I must delete them to make room for more...
Is there something I need to change on my end? It shows at the bottom of my post "Attachment space used 49K of 50K"...
not sure what to do, any help would be great.
Thanx,
Michael

Methinks Geoffrey has some more settings to tweak.

I'm in the same boat as Michael. I have only 50k total available and apparently must delete before posting additional photos. According to Tootieflutie, she has 2 megs per upload and unlimited total space. I would have thought tweaking would make things consistent for everybody. Is this somehow a computer issue, or a bug?

Yes, I did need to do some tweaking. There are something in the range of a gazillion settings for one of these chat boards, and they are scattered all over the place in the Admin control site...
You have all been officially upgraded to 10 Mb of "storage" (allowable upload space, which encompasses both photo and PM postings).
Now we will see if this works....
Please post here if you have any issues with this that do not resolve.

When I went to upload a picture it said max file size (upload) was 10k. Is there something I need to do to increase this??
Thank You...

Hi Hawk,
We think this is a bug. However, I'll check some settings (as you have probably gleaned from reading this thread, the Admin controls for a site like this are extensive and (to me) very esoteric!) I've found all sorts of default settings that I didn't know existed. I'll see if I can adjust it, but I thought we already set it, and it should be more than 10K. Stay tuned...

Okay, in theory everything should work. I simply removed the upload limit altogether! This is not the sort of site where I think anyone will abuse their privileges by uploading gigabytes worth of media, so it seems simpler to get rid of it for the time being. If we start getting lots of media, I might reset it, but for now...
If things don't improve, someone give a shout
