yeah, i love drumming. :-)) i first learned to play hand drum from an old flute player amigo in the 60's. we jammed a lot back then, but i never thought of playing flute till much much later..... both drum and flute have been a blessing for me. A while back an old medicine man told me the original ancient instruments are Drum, Flute & Rattle. and so, it has a deep relationship with flute i believe, along with rattle. somehow the magic of drum and flute enables me to play more instruments in a more meaningful way too. i guess what i mean is that it helps me breakthru into the unknown zones easier somehow. i also play guitar and keys and i get stuck in patterns and modes sometimes that i cannot seem to free myself of. well, the drum and the flute have been my big medicine to get FREE musically. really free. its hard to explain, yet both drum and flute add to my musical ear and sensitivity in a valuable way that i would be stuck in quicksand without. now, im also paying more attention to the Rattle.....its very subtle but very powerful too. its a kind of key.....a valuable one that i may have overlooked......
really must say, the ZionDrum is quite nice. it is more of a flamenco type drum, a Cajon style of drum, really a hybrid. very well made, and the sound is earthy and luxurious!
Its equiped with a internal pickup so its awesome for on stage work or studio work with flute. Its a nice alternative to a skin drum and with the electronics involved, you can merely tap out a beat without much pain. pretty groovey. i recommend it. Greg, the artist who makes them is devoted and focused. he's extremely skillful and makes a great Cajon. i have two other Cajons, both spanish style flamenco beat box type Cajons......now they are nice tables.....hahahah.....the Zion Drum creams 'em both sonically! its #1
