Geoffrey: Just curious.....

I notice a number of posters using the quote function all the time and I'm wondering if this wastes valuable server hard drive space? Is this a practice that should be utilized only when required, to make it clear to what you are responding to to? Or is it not really a big deal?

Thanks much.
Geoffrey
That's a good question, actually. I suspect it does use up more space. I think a lot of people don't realize that they can respond without quoting.

For folks who read this post, you can respond to a thread using the "Add Reply" button just below the "Reply" button (which looks like this: "REPLY ). The "Reply" button means that you will quote the post in which you push said button.

I only use the quote button when I'm specifically quoting someone. I'll make an admin announcement about it, because it does seem to be getting some heavy use when not necessary.

Thanks for the observation smile.gif

'Glad to be of some small use in the world.

(Note no need to quote. laugh.gif )

Just a note: If you want to quote someone and their post is really long, you can just erase the part of the quote you don't need and keep the part you want to quote.

'Also a good idea. And if the post being quoted has a photo in it, you can delete that from the quote as well. Cheers!
