What a great weekend it was for the Potomac Flute Festival. That is unless you factor in the ice storm that shut the thing down Friday. I was really looking forward to seeing Mark Holland again. Oh well, there is still Musical Echoes in April! If you have not been to Musical Echoes it's a great weekend of music and it's FREE! Take a look at the line up and consider a trip south. I didn't go to see RC on Saturday since I'd seen him several times before and had my kids with me. I would take them but they'd complain that it's too sleepy and slow. They need something with a bigger sound- like Hannah Montana but with flute. The festival was well attended with a nice mix of flute makers and players. I saw Jan Seiden and Johnny Lipford walking around. It was a good time!

This Saturday should be fun too as it includes flute playing "and" Ultimate Fighting...what more can a guy ask for? I know- Chex Mix (Bold) and Mountain Dew...the perfect flute meets mixed martial arts fighting combination.

When I have a snack, I always reach for Chex Mix (Demure)...more subtle. Then I drink mineral water and watch "Pride and Prejudice". While playing the flute, of course wink.gif
Michael - Cedar Hawk
I was realy hoping to attend this event last weekend, however, the ice storm and an unexpected death in the family changed all that.
Where is the Musical Echoes event?
...and I'm kind of fond of the "Chicken In A Biskit" crackers & a nice cold glass of milk...they go well together with all the wood shavings in my teeth from trying to make a flute that sounds good... biggrin.gif

No lie, just last night I'm sitting watching Ultimate Fighting with two flutes on my lap. I then had to make a major decision, do I play the flutes or eat the Oren Cookies with a glass of milk. Well, most of the Oreos' are gone!!!

You'll like this story. I went to NYC to see the Police play at the Garden and stopped into a Rodman's drug with my girlfriend. Standing behind us in line was GSP! If he'd handed me a flute...it would have been perfect!

Ultimate Fighting?!?! What about Ultimate Fluting? rolleyes.gif

For me, it's a PBS program with popcorn or peanuts and a ginger ale!

Hey Tootieflutie, in a moment of weakness I choose the OREOS!

Hey Barry,

I certainly understand those moments of weakness! That's why I had to give up chocolate.
Now ... if only I could give up the extra weight I got because of it! laugh.gif

I think I will invent a new diet - I'm seriously thinking about trying this: when I get the munchies and want to eat, I'll go play my flute instead! I often eat when I am wanting comfort, so why wouldn't playing the flute serve the same purpose?

If it works I'll not only lose weight but if I promote my new diet plan, we'll have a lot more flute converts!! AND if I sell the plan, I'll have more money to buy more flutes for myself!!!!!! rolleyes.gif

George St. Pierre...cool! I have to admit I'm a fan too. My wife came home one night to find me watching UFC and playing a flute at the same time. She wasn't sure if I was going to heaven or hell--or maybe purgatory.

Whichever one it is...I'll meet you there!
