Hi Geoffrey,

Each time I log on to the forum I have to sign in with user name and password even though I have clicked the remember me box. Is this the usual procedure or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for bringing this up Hawk, I've been wondering about that myself. huh.gif

Its just a guess, but from prev experience, I have found that browser and security settings can affect this behaivor. I would be curious what your experience would be if you try a different browser, as well as play with minor security adjustments. I have tried this with both Firefox and IE, and found it fixed the issue... for me anyway.

Just a thought...

Hi Cryss,

Not being too computer savvy how would I go about trying a different browser? I use IE and have the Portal on my favorite's list.

Thanks for your help.

...go to the top left of this IE window, click TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, then PRIVACY , and set the slider to MEDIUM HIGH.

This should fix your login issue, untill the next time you "clear your cookies"....

...hope this helps brother wink.gif

Yeah, sorry about that guys. It does it to me too and it drive me bonkers. I made the security adjustment that Michael recommended and I'll see if it helps. If not, I'll assume it's a bug with the software. If so, the solution may be slow in coming, so I hope we can all be patient smile.gif

I stay logged in most of the time. Only rarely does it say Welcome, Guest and I have to log in. For the most part, I don't have to do that. rolleyes.gif

It also varies with the OS. My Mac at home logs me in automatically, with windoze at work, I must type in a letter, then it will load, but I still have to click log in.

Of course, my system at work has never been entirely right since a drive crashed. That's the windoze world. Anything older than 2 yrs. stops working right.

I never have any trouble logging in to the Forum, this is how and what I do and did. While I was into the Forum I transferred it to my favorite file and when I want to open the Forum I simply open Favorite File and the Forum opens and I'm logged in as Barry G. I don't know if this works for everyone or not and I don't know enough about computers to do it anyother way, but it works well for me without any hassle.

I too saved it to my Fav's ...and I am always logged in, however, I have to re-log when I delete my cookies, and then I remain logged in untill next cookie delete.
Another thing is: you have to save the FORUMS page in your favorites, NOT the flute portal home page, or you will always have to log in....remember, save the FORUMS page(this one).....http://forums.fluteportal.com/index.php?act=idx

Only very rarely do I have to re-log on on my PC at work. At home, my Mac never remembers. I believe it's all in the settings of your particular computer and has nothing to do with the site. Either the computer remembers to automatically log you on or it doesn't for some reason.

You are correct about saving the FORUM to favorites, not the Native American Flute Portal Home Page. Thanks Michael for the clarification.

I think the best part is that I'm the Administrator and I get kicked off like clockwork. I actually compose my messages and replies in a word processor and paste them in because if I take too long at writing I get kicked off. Sometimes it remembers me, sometimes it doesn't. You'd think that the software would recognize my exalted status and behave itself dry.gif

LOL. I'm glad I have other admins on my forum, to help keep it in line, as I am very new to doing that. tongue.gif
