Hi,

If one wants to tune a flute to 432Hz, which tuners or ways will work for that?

Hi Elisabeth,

The short answer- most tuners are able to be recalibrated so it is as simple as changing the setting to 432hz...then tune your flute using the tuner at that setting...

I wondered about this, since in the description of the one Ed just reviewed it says, that it can be calibrated to any pitch from A435 to A445. So, I would have to look for a tuner then that offers more flexibility/range?

Most Guitar tuners have that range. A good reliable and economical unit to look for is the Korg CA30:

That is the one I have been using for the last few years.

That's what everyone I know uses. In classical music it's important that it goes down to 410 or so, because 415 is baroque tuning.

I just came back from the music store, where I almost bought the CA-30. The owner however told me there is also a clip on tuner for woodwinds he might could get. He will check and see if it can be calibrated like the Korg. Supposedly with a clip on you eliminate all the surround noises/interference.

Is anyone of you familiar with these?

When I use my tuner, I either find a quiet area or, if that's not possible, I play the flute close to the tuner.
