Is there a way to search for only the new posts in the last day? Two days? Week? This would be real handy.

Yes! Do you see the bar at the top of the page with the following links:

My Controls · View New Posts · My Assistant · My Friends · 0 New Messages

Click on My Assistant and you will find what you need.

Also take the time to get to know the "My Controls" section--it is where you can customize your experience on the forum.

And lastly, don't neglect the Help button on the upper right of the page.
