held this year at Marian college in a wonderful small chapel. We had Sikhs, Rabbi's, Ministers, Buddhists.... the list goes on. I played two solo pieces, the first was just a nice piece on my Geoffrey Ellis low C, the last I decided at the last minute to play Amazing Grace, possibly the finest rendition I had ever played, perfectly hitting the half hole note, Kuzin Bruce E. The chapel was very reverberant, the sound filled the space. It was a moving experience, looking out seeing all those people with wide smiles. Then a real honor for me and for the NAF. Following me was Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow and he opened by talking about how my music filled the room and the hearts within it, what a consummate speaker as he wove together a very moving talk on the spur of the moment. I have to admit I liked that better than the prepared speeches some of the others made.

We also had the Zen prayer chant and I realized, the chants are in Pentatonic minor! They were from the Zen center in Bloomington Indiana. The Sikhs had their prayer chant accompanied by the Tabla and a Harmonium. It was quite beautiful to listen to, great bunch but with their accented English, can be tough to understand what they are saying. Luckily the leader has been here for decades and speaks very well.

The final piece was a choral piece by the Marian College chamber singers. We had the words and music to sing along, it was all I could do to not grab one my flutes and play along(I knew the key they were in). When the choral director found out, she was disappointed I did not join in. Next year I will probably be playing a piece with them.

It was wonderful seeing all the different faiths come together for a common goal.

Very nice!! I can just hear that long high note in AG just ringing around the room. Very nice description and imagery. I'm sure the actual program was wonderful.

I agree. I used to work less than a mile from there. I was highly impressed with the campus.

Amazing, the beauty in the world, when all of the ridiculous walls that divide us come down, and we open our hearts and minds. What a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful event!

Peace...to us all
