Hello to all.

I used to be able to click on View New Post and then, click on a topic with new posts in it. Then, I would be directed to the first unread post. However now, after clicking on View New Post, then a topic, I am directed to the first post in the topic. What can I do to fix this? This issue came up about two weeks ago.

Thanks,

dd

Hi David, I've been a member of the forum for about six months now and the only method of viewing in my expierence is to click on View New Posts, then click on the post I want to view and that post appears with all of the posts/responses to that subject. How would you propose to change that process?

Hmmmm. Well, any time I ever click on "View New Posts" it gives me the option of choosing which page to view (if there are multiple pages in the thread) but that is it. Either way, it puts me at the top of the page (beginning of the thread) and I have to scroll to wherever I want to be. I don't recall that it has ever shown me the most recent post.

I looked around the board settings and couldn't find anything that controls the view in that respect.

Some of the topics have many posts in them. I used to be able to click on view new post, then the topics would come up that had new posts. Then, after clicking on one of the topics, I would go straight to the first unread post in that topic. This prevents the user from scrolling through many posts that have already been read. I haven't changed the cookie settings or any other settings on my computer (as far as I know).

Maybe I'm just going crazy. blink.gif

After clicking on "view new posts" you click on "Last post by:" instead of the topic it will go to the most recent post. If you click the topic it takes you to the first item in the thread.
Anthony Lee
If you click on the green arrow preceding the topic title, it takes you to the first post of that topic that you have not read. Some one mentioned it awhile back and i use it all the time.

David,

The "Go to first unread" button appears as a little green arrowhead to the left of the subject title on some computers/programs. But on mine, there appears either a blank space or a rectangular outline with one of those X'd-out boxes that indicates a picture or icon has not downloaded. If there are indeed new posts, there should be some space to the left of the subject title, whether there is anything there or not. Click on the empty space to see if you get action.

dry.gif Chased that little bugger around a bunch in an earlier thread rolleyes.gif Thus Tootie's title for it...

Well, to be honest, Paul named it the Harter/Tootie button! Here's the original thread:

Thanks for clearing that up for me. Now we can petition Geoffrey to officially name the little green arrow the Harter/Toootie button and make it feel better about itself. Who wants to be called a little green arrow? tongue.gif
Anthony Lee
I will never refer to Harter/Tootie buttons as "Green arrows" for as long I I shall live. Forever more they will be mentioned by their proper names.

I tried entering a quick post and another member's post appeared.
That was really wacky, so all I knew to do was edit it out.
Gremlin's in the system???

Boo Indeed! I was adding a response to Robin's Priced/Prized Possession remark on the EBAY post section and a post by songbird or birdsong popped up! I am not sure how I could acually delete someone else's post, but I suppose I did since it was in my very own cyber space of sorts! Spooky! My household power zapped out today for no apparent reason at all . . . Strange stuff! I guess it's time to run a full system boogitty boo gremlin scan! smile.gif

I already wrote a less than best-selling novel about exorcism. Looking now for more positive spirits to arouse. smile.gif
