Today I received my custom leather flute case from Dusty Johnson. Dusty was great to work with from start-to-finish. If you look at his site he has some amazing leatherwork and like he has posted, he has a lot of experience working with leather.

The case is all custom leather, with a handle and removable shoulder strap. The lid has a snap on each side and is removable. The leatherwork is amazing! I’ve attached two pictures. The designs are all his with my input. You have to see the pictures the detail is incredible. The quiver is 4x28 and will hold up to three flutes, depending on the size and the thickness of the sock.

The price is real reasonable considering the detail and craftsmanship.

He has some on display at The Zion Flute Festival and he is attending the school this week.

This second case I received last week is from the Flute Case Store, from Mark Slater he has a great selection on his site! Marks cases are exactly what I needed to take to Musical Echoes. I brought two flutes there and returned with five (more, my wife liked that!). The case carried all these flutes with plenty of room.

The case is a forest green hard case that is 6x33, lots of room. I carried it on the plane and it fit in the overhead with no problem. It has a removable shoulder strap and a handle. It has a zipper storage pouch on the outside. This is a great case! See picture.

I made it through security on the first flight with no problem. On the return flight I had a camera in with the flutes, I don’t recommend doing this as it was searched on this flight.

Mark and Karen are great to work with and real friendly! The case is top quality and a reasonable price!

I recommend both cases, it gives you options for a few or a load! Both are easy to carry!

Love the leather case. Wish my budget would allow for a nice quiver case, like that. I have had an idea, of how to make one that I would love to try, but it probably won't have the artwork on it, if I ever get around to trying my hand at making one. The key is, I would like the top, to be more of a true quiver, but still allow it to close, when access is not needed.

I would be concerned about the cap for this one, coming off, unless it has a safety tether against loss.

Have you waterproof treated the leather? I can see using it on a hike in the forest, but my experience, and Murphy's law, says it is certain to thunderstorm on you, if you do that. rolleyes.gif

Hey Dusty,

If you read this come say "Hi" to me at the flute school. I will wear my "Titmouse Portal T-Shirt" on Monday.

Beautiful. I saw one like this listed on ebay recently and wanted to pull the trigger. But my vegetarian/animal rights 15 year old is reforming me!
