I've been spending the afternoon tweaking my Bose L1 PA system for my house concert next week for the Crested Butte Music Festival. It's a great system that is very flexible if the user knows what they're doing! ;0) This video gives a good understanding on why it works so well. I don't need stage monitors with the L1 and my feedback problem is non-existent. I consider it a dream system for flute players!

Does anybody out there have the Bose L1 and do you like it? For those of you who have questions about using the L1 for flute performance, ask away!

Here's a link to the Bose L1 page at Bose: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_o..._single_pkg.jsp

One of my good friend out here in the west, Jose Cabezas (Inca, taught to play by his Father), traveling flute maker musician...plays flutes, Pans, guitar and more, uses the Bose L1. (sometimes with a converter & battery)
He has been using this system for several years now and is quite pleased with it. He works nearly every weekend of the year and has a wide tour of many states.
Sorry, I don't have any video examples of his L1, but here is his website if you would like to ask him anything concerning system. It gives out a real crowd pleasing sound though! smile.gif

Hey Ronald:

Have really enjoyed your music on utube and frequently hit your web site.......and my question is....what do you use for effects with this unit? Also........what is your mic set up with this unit.? thanks...
Ronald Roybal
I use my own effects although I believe the tonematch audio engine has built in effects. I don't own the Tonematch unit and it's not totally necessary. I prefer my own effect pedals which include an old Boss RV-3 which they don't make anymore and a Behhrenger Reverb Machine which is a clone for a Digitech Reverbzilla. I also use a Sonic Stomp for my backing tracks. As far as mics are concerned, for concerts, I use an AKG419 (no longer made) wind instrument mic with a Silver Bullet mic as a backup. The L1 is awesome because I can mix my live flute signal with my backing tracks right from the stage as the system serves as its own monitor!

Mark Holland told me he has one of these and he said that he liked it as well.

I have seen the system with Mark Holland, and a local musician, who uses it with guitar as well as with flutes. It seems to work well. Far beyond anything I expect to ever need, myself.

The Bose systems are great for solo musicians. There is also a system made by Fishman that works along the same principles. I am quite pleased using my VOX acoustic amplifier. It covers a crowd very well with clean, clear sound.

Ronald, I have the L1 compact with the tone match that works great! Just wish I knew more about setting it.
