I just discovered this minutes ago, myself. I, too, placed my order. Cool! biggrin.gif

Did you notice he is temporarily out of Prayer Rock Flutes in Bb? He is, however, offering larger Anasazi designs in G# and A- carved cicada style- $340.

I look forward to this CD.I own all of his others and was thrilled to learn from Michael at last years Flute Quest that he was releasing a new CD in 2011. Can't wait!!!

Here's a couple of Michael's comments from FaceBook.

"I do have a new Coyote Oldman recording out on September 20th, the title is "Time Travelers" - guest artist: David Lanz and Gary Stroutsos, Lanz is arguably the best piano player on Earth, Stroutsos and I have our moments too- lots of ancient flutes, keyboards and acoustic grand piano. it's not bad."

"Gary Stroutsos and I are playing Anasazi and Desert flutes + Xiao (shaow) and Dizi (detz) flute with David Lanz on acoustic grand piano and keys. no NAF, I'll get some samples up soon."

In case you are not aware of it, Gary Stroutsos is just a fantastic flute player. His rim blown playing (especially the Xiao) will definitely take you places!

The "...it's not bad." will be the understatement of the year!

Hope that helps.

Thanks, it sounds like an awesome cd.

Gary Stroutsos has incredible range. He is a producer as well as a player. He was instrumental in producing Kevin Locke's early CDs and from that experience has studied, taught and played northern plains traditional music. He also has produced and performed with David Lanz, who of course is most famous for his New Age CD and title track, "Cristofori's Dream." Gary has a great stage presence as well, and MC's flawlessly. I didn't know he was proficient at rim-blown and oriental instruments as well. What a talent!

My order is in!

Sharon is a big fan of David Lanz and she likes Gary Stroutsos as well so she is gonna love this cd.

Gary was at the pool in Oakhurst during the 2009 Yosemite Flute Festival. I had just won a xiao at the silent auction. Gary picked up my new xiao and played "Within You Without You." for the people at the pool. Later that night he performed it onstage for the entire crowd.

I think that Rick should try to grab David Lanz for a future Yosemite Flute Festival. He has appeal to the non fluting spouse of the flute player in the family.

I agree. Lanz played at Zion a few years ago as well, and was great. I think they come as a boxed set, Stroutsos and Lanz.

Oh, I look forward to seeing your pictures of the one in A when you get it - a sound file would be wonderful, too!

You said you are also getting one in B, but you said it is a larger size? I am confused, as a B would be smaller than the Bb he usually sells, wouldn't it?

Okay, forgive me for getting mixed up - are you also getting one in A#? If so, please post pics and sound files of that one, too, when you get it.

You are going to have quite the collection! Hard to go wrong with any of MGA's flute. What a treasure you shall have.

Hi,hi it is quite confusing!
When i contacted Michael about prayer rock flute he didn `t have any! sad.gif
Then he told me that he is making a bach of prayer rock flutes and few classical(large )anasazis(bell shaped end and more embelishment, prayer rock is just straight cedar tube) , they are bouth in B, except that prayer rock one, he calls easyer version ,and it is higher pitched then the classic anasazis(large ones) like the one he have to offer carved cicada style in A and G!
Since i have large one painted cicada style in G, i purchased the one in A and put an order for one in B ,since he is making them as the same time as prayer rock flutes!(Darn i probably ending upp by gething bouth of them hi hi) cool.gif
I hope now itīs clearer!
I love MGA flutes,Artwork,Feel And sound is exceptional!(And michael and his wife are just beautiful, kind and humble people`s)
Having almoust complete rimblown flute family from michael makes my heart dance!
The sound which is subtle suits me cause i live in central stockholm in a appartment, cause his flutes are not loud gives me opportunity to practice a lot without disturbing any of neighbours and my family while they sleeping! biggrin.gif

And to go little bit further i would realy like to have Pappago flute from him as well! Will se if i have force enough to beg him about that one tongue.gif
Here is atached pic he sent me when i contacted michael about large anasazi in A, mine is number 808!Cant wait to get it!
I will post the family photos of hole mine MGA collection as soon as they found they way home!
Gerard
Thanks for the link greybeard, mine is in as well.
And Dario I will have to come and admire your MGA collection soon after holidays!

Is that the one he called the California Flute? I wonder if he even makes them anymore? They hold an interest for me, too.

I will post the family photos of hole mine MGA collection as soon as they found they way home!

That would be fantastic! Thanks for sharing this photo - what beauties they all are.

Need to make a correction here , i miss understood it all blink.gif : here it goes!!!

The "B" is a smaller flute: 24.5 inches,
The "Bb" (B flat) is a little larger and deeper at 26.5 inches.
The "G#" (G sharp) is 29.5 inches long, a larger flute would be a "G", 31.5 inches or an "F#" at 33.4 inches.
The"F#" is a difficult reach for most people and can be a little damaging for the flute player.

I received my box with the new CD today!

It has the signed poster, art stamp and the new CD! The box actually fit in my street box so it through me off at first, but I'm enjoying the beautiful sounds that Michael's music has to offer!

Thank you Coyote Oldman!

I received my copy of TIme Travelers today and it is playing as I type. Fantastic. Very soothing and relaxing. You can really destress to this one. You can hear Michael breathing as he plays //I like that about the recording, somehow more organic. Very otherworldly. Looking forward to others reactions.

Just got mine today also. Nice package. I played it three times, very nice sound. Lots of echo melting the flutes together. Nice to hear him working with other great musicians.

I concur and have been listing to it daily since I recieved it. It is much like his "Rainbird" but with additional instrumentation that makes it even richer and more interesting...... and yeah the pacaging was cool too.

Two Thumbs up.
Gerard
It is wonderful CD. High quality, and a variety of flutes.
